Donna is licensed to practice law in SC, DC, and VA as well as holding admission to the Supreme Court of the United States, the Eastern District of Virginia and the District Court for the District of Columbia.
Donna launched her legal career working as a courtroom clerk in the Arlington Circuit Court., Thereafter, Donna opened her own solo law firm, Donna Murphy Law, where she focused the facts of life practice areas: criminal defense, domestic relations, and estate planning. After winding down her solo firm, Donna practiced in the civil litigation and wills, trusts and estates arenas, ultimately returning to her first passion of criminal defense with Price Benowitz.
Donna also deeply values a commitment to serving the community as well as her clients. She has served for nearly a decade on the Board of Directors of the Arlington County Bar Association as well as assisting the Georgetown Civil Rights Legal Clinic.
Donna was born and raised in Philadelphia and continues to torture herself as a lifelong Philly sports fan. After relocating to Charleston, SC Donna earned her BA, cum laude, in English from the College of Charleston and her JD, cum laude, from the Charleston School of Law.
Donna and her husband have lived in the DMV for more than a decade and enjoy exploring all that the history and culture the local region has to offer.
Donna recognizes that the criminal justice system is a tall steep climb and every person accused of a crime deserves a guide over the mountain. Educating each client on every step in the process is pivotal to Donna’s representation as criminal defense often takes unexpected twists and turns.
