How Many Points Do I Get on my License for a Reckless Driving Charge?

If you are a Virginia resident driver convicted of Reckless Driving, found in Title 46.2 of the Code of Virginia beginning in Section 46.2-852 (General Rule) and including Section 46.2-862 (Reckless Driving By Speed), you will be assessed six demerit points for a period of 11 years. Virginia has three different points levels for traffic violations: three points, four points, or six points. Six points is the maximum and covers the most serious offenses.  If you are licensed in another jurisdiction, you should check with your local DMV regulations regarding out of state convictions and points assessments.
